"Dax was the kind of man who loved with his whole heart."
Well, the deeper I get into The Perfect Gentlemen, the less perfect they are, and the more I love them. Big Easy Temptation is the 3rd installment in this amazing series and it focuses on Dax. He's the #MilitaryMan who comes from money, and a father who's an Admiral in the Navy. He has big shoes to fill. But he enjoys the time with his pack at Creighton Academy before he begins his Naval career. The six PG's have kind of paired up, and each has a best friend, and then as a group, they are all brothers-by-choice. Dax's best friend is Connor. Yeah, the silent but deadly one. They both will develop skills during their careers that make them the perfect team to tackle anything or anyone that threatens them or theirs.
Holland is friends with Zack's wife and Dax's sister. They see each other at group events. They admire each other. They lust after each other. But she keeps Dax at arm's length, refusing every time Dax tries to hook up with her. It's not that she's not attracted to him, it's that she wants to focus on her career as a NCIS agent. She watched her mother's life as a military wife and she doesn't want that for herself. So, she sees no future for them. But he doesn't give up. And he's pretty damn irresistible when he sets his mind to seduce her. When they are in the same room together, their chemistry is intense. How long will she be able to hold out?
Dax has been in the tabloids, but that's mostly due to his two crazy friends Mad and Gabe. They were the manwhores who kept acting out and drawing attention. He & Connor were more discreet. But since Holland was part of their inner circle, she knew more than he wanted her to. How would he ever convince her that he'd settled down and was looking for something more than a fling? Well, apparently he did a good job, the only problem was that it was him that ended up being betrayed. She left him standing with his heart in his hand, in broken pieces. His brothers supported him and tried to take his mind off of his misery. But he never forgot her.
Holland broke his heart on purpose. She was hiding a secret that she couldn't share with him. She pushed him away, breaking her own heart in the process. And when he retaliated in the worst way, she suffered in silence. When he shows up in her office, making demands in his sexy southern drawl, she tries to push him away again. But he's honed his skills, and taking no for an answer is no longer a consideration. He's determined to get what he wants. And he wants her.
Their passion has been simmering for years, and once the two sparks get near each other, it ignites. There's no controlling the heat between them. She tells him it's just physical. But they both know better. Will they be able to solve the mystery, protect themselves and their families, and keep their clothes on?
This series just keeps getting better and better as the suspense deepens. Yes, each book gives me more answers, but then there are more questions with the revelations. It's driving me crazy because I'm making wild guesses and I want to know if I'm right. And I'm falling deeper and deeper in love with the characters. And as each of the gentlemen find their one, I enfold them into the ever-growing family and make room for more. And the authors tease me with glimpses and clues, hinting at a possible connection, and making me wait. The anticipation is frustrating and delicious at the same time. I'm loving every page. I can't wait to see what happens next. The line forms here...
