Permanent Ink (Art & Soul, #1)Permanent Ink by Avon Gale & Piper Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Where, oh where to start with this one. Permanent Ink is the first book I have read by either of these authors, and I rather enjoyed it. I liked the storyline, and the characters were great. There is a bit of angst, and part of me wants to call this story a little taboo. I have not read many books with Daddy kink in them and found that I rather enjoyed it, but felt that key scenes were left out. It had plenty of steamy, sexy moments that will have anyone who likes M/M, with a touch of D/s, squirming in their chair. The characters are well developed and engaging. I liked the push and pull, and the sexual tension between Poe and Jericho was so thick at times.

Jericho McAslan, has worked hard to get where he is today. Permanent Ink, his tattoo parlor that he has worked years to have is thriving. Jericho really is a strong character. He hasn't always been the hard working, level-headed guy that he is now. As a teenager, he was wild and into drugs and alcohol, a real troublemaker, and if it hadn't of been for his mentor, he would most likely be locked up. He is loyal, caring, hard working and sexy as sin. When his best friend Landon talks to him about his son, Poe, who just can't seem to grow up and accept responsibility and find a career, Jericho sees the chance to pay it forward. Little did he know that the young, Poe, would be a distraction of the best kind.

Poe Montgomery is a twenty-three-year-old, part-time convenience store clerk. His life really isn't going anywhere. He lives in his father's basement and spends all his free time hanging with his best friend Blue, tagging buildings. His hope is to one day be a well know graffiti artist. When his last tag ends in his arrest, his father has had it with him. Now Poe finds himself working the front desk at Permanent Ink. Poe seriously is a pain-in-the-ass character. He would rather tag and hang with Blue than be a productive member of society...lol He is frustrated that his father doesn't see his tagging as art, something that he is very good at. When the opportunity arises to learn more about tattooing, Poe sees it as a chance to try and get closer to Jericho. There may be seventeen years between them, but that is just a number to Poe. The fact that Jericho is his father's best friend doesn't seem to stop him from pursuing his older boss either.

Together Jericho and Poe are sexy, hot and engaging. At times Jericho has to stop himself from being the father figure. The whole "daddy" and "boy" nicknames was an interesting dynamic, hence the Daddy Kink. I liked how grounded Jericho was and that he wanted to help create a better life for Poe. Poe, on the other hand, needed his ass kicked. But, I think part of the reason he was the way he is, is due to his mother leaving him so early on in life.

Overall, I really did enjoy this story and I look forward to seeing what comes next in this series, especially with Blue, who is even more broken and messed up than Poe. I can't wait to see what is written about Callum as well. So, if you are a sucker for a quick, sexy, somewhat frustrating and angsty read, M/M read, with a touch of Daddy Kink then grab a copy and settle in for a great start to this new series.
