"You can be naked with your clothes on or off."
I admit it, I was shamelessly glued to my kindle while reading Shameless. I couldn't put it down. The secrets were dangled in front of me and the suspense escalated. My questions multiplied and my curiosity almost killed me. But no worries, I wasn't tempted to skim to the end to get my answers. No way was I risking the loss of a single sexy scene or brush stroke. I was invested and ready to fully commit, hanging my DO NOT DISTURB sign on my reading cave door until the very end.
Nick is known as Tiger for his ruthless behavior in the legal world. He's made a name for himself and he always wins. He's filthy rich and he has a filthy mouth. He is irresistible to women, but he only has eyes for Faith. When they met, he was a stranger to her, but she wasn't to him. He had researched every detail about her life and thought he knew everything about her. But he was soon to learn that she had secrets too. He selfishly wanted to know all of hers, while keeping his. Not that he didn't want to share, but he didn't want to lose what he never thought he wanted...her. Their one-nigh-stand carried over into an obsession on both sides. They could not get enough of each other. But would their white lies ruin it all?
Faith has been lied to by everyone she's ever loved. She's been hurt and her trust is a thing of the past. She's tough and determined not to let anyone inside her walls again. She couldn't resist the passion that Nick stirred in her. She gave in to the lust, with the intention of it being for only one night. But that one night was so good they both wanted more. Can they spend time together and still keep their secrets? Will what they are hiding ruin what they could have? Or will their enemies steal it from them? With all the secrets and lies, how are they to tell who the enemies are? What better way to keep an eye on each other than to be naked, right? It works for me. LOL
As Faith struggles with her feelings of obligation to her father for their family legacy, she gets pulled back into her true passion. Painting. Will she follow the advice of those that care about her, or will she keep struggling with her guilt for wanting to follow her heart. As Nick encourages her to be who she is, she picks up her brush. "Painters paint. Is she a painter, or is she not? Will she let her insecurities steal her peace, or will she take a chance? "All or nothing." Will she have to choose between her art and her vineyard, or can she manage to keep both? Is Nick too good to be true, or does he really care for her? She sees the secrets in his eyes. Will he ever tell her, or will she have to settle for what he's willing to give her? Is that enough? He tells her, "We are all the sum of our broken pieces." Can two broken people fill the cracks in each other enough to become whole? Are they willing to try?
Another amazing sexy suspenseful read from Lisa Renee Jones. I couldn't wait to read it, but now I'm sad it's over. Fortunately this author keeps throwing me a bone by intersecting her stories and mingling her characters between series. I really enjoyed seeing Chris Merit again and spending some time in the art world. I look forward to whatever she has for us next. The line forms here...
